That's no way to compare two singers singing different songs. Yes, two singers can be compared when singing the same song. Like it happened in the case of song ' Chal urja re panchhi ki ab yeh desh hua begana.' The song was recorded in the voices of Rafi and Talat but it was selected finally in the Rafi version. Rafi was far ahead of Talat in the rendition of that song. Producers lost no time in recognising the versatility of Rafi Sahib. It's true Talat was already singing songs when Rafi made his debut and Talat felt he had a serious challenge at hand. Rafi's versatility, his humble nature and love and respect for all assured him a place in the hearts of the millions before or after death. Of course, there were all kinds of music directors who preferred some and hated others. Like there was one music director who called Talat Mahmood as Galat Mahmood and Kishore Kumar as Shor Kumar.

Both Rafi and Mukesh were great great great singers. My fav has always been Rafi - however I like many of Mukesh songs also - we cant compare them as both were great - However I guess Rafi was more popular especially in the 60s
